Kellison J6
When I spotted this car, I had a Superman moment. It’s a Cobra…it’s a Stingray…it’s a Ferrari…no, it’s a kit car!
One thing is for certain: this Kellison J-Model has seen better days. How it ended up in the back of the yard at a vacant structure in Southwest Detroit, I have no idea. Where it’ll end up next…well, probably a junkyard.
I don’t know enough about these cars to tell you much, but they were around in the 1950s and 1960s, and their bodies were crafted from fiberglass, making them incredibly light for racing. The cars were designed by Jim Kellison and sold as kits by the Kellison Car Company.
I believe that this is a Kellison J6. The J Series of cars was first released in 1958 and finished production in 1964 when the last J6s were sold.
It might not be Detroit Muscle, but it sure was cool looking up what this thing was in researching this post!
